COMMENTS.
1. The number of favorites winning at this centre is lightly below the average of 45 % favorite winners across the country. The interesting thing to observe is that more than 33% of races are won by non fancied runners. It shows that racing is competitive and any system of following favorite or second favorite does not help in the long run.
2. The trainer who has the best record with favourites is N LAGAD which is a welcome change as he was known for striking at good odds.
3. A few trainers who are not in the list need to be discussed. First is MANSOOR SHAH who has shown least interest in contesting this season , watch for him at Mumbai. Not in the list is ALTAF HUSSAIN who has the dubious honour of all 8 favorites of his biting the dust, shows he is a bookies trainer.
4. Jockey DASRATH has the best strike on favourites, has been very consistent and should soon get some winning rides in classics. KAMLESH has also pleased with his commitments and score. T PATEL heads the list for being the bookies favourite , seems to serve tainted owners/trainers as he keeps getting rides on good horses in with a chance. S ZERVAN and N PARMAR are also in the list of non reliable riders whose favourites need to be considered very seriously.
5. ACE stands way ahead of other sires at the home centre. He seems to provide winners over sprint and middle distances, has not given classic types. MULTI DIMENSIONAL, the good sire is not in the list as very few wards of his have raced here, the numbers are bound to improve in the future. PHOENIX TOWER is the other one who has impressed with speedy type winners. There appears to be a void in local sires what with the successive deaths of RAZEEN, PLACERVILLE, GLORY OF DANCER, REBUTTAL & NOVERRE.
6. The number of races won by foreign sires is significant at 18%, this shows the lack of availability of good stock at fair prices with the country’s breeders .
